A Vertical Team Collaboration Rubric
Where are you in the collaborative process?
6 I’m part of a fully evolved grades 6-12 Vertical Team that meets regularly with all members contributing to presentations. We have developed both a continuum of curriculum and skill building (standards-based scope and sequence) from one grade level to the next. We use portfolios as one means to track student progress. We coordinate cluster-wide evaluations, which we grade holistically as a team. We are continually developing strategies for teaching skills at various grade levels. Our efforts are having a demonstrable effect on our students.
5 I’m part of an evolving Vertical Team that meets several times a year. Our team is limited to our school, but we have some contact with other cluster schools. We have a curriculum and skills scope and sequence which we observe. We are involved in some of the level
6 activities, but to a lesser degree. Our efforts are having some effect on our students.
4 I’m part of a department that meets regularly and has developed a skills and curriculum scope and sequence which we generally observe. We have some contact with other cluster schools and are involved in some of the level 6 activities.
3 I’m part of a department that meets regularly and has developed a skills and content continuum, but isn’t always successful in implementation. We sometimes plan professional growth activities, but rarely with any master plan. We seldom reinforce these activities.
2 I’m part of a department that meets occasionally and sometimes talks shop. We rarely plan professional growth experiences and generally avoid collaboration, but I sometimes work with a few peers.
1 I’m basically an independent contractor. Our department meets only to divvy up the dough ($) and essentially leaves the teaching to the individual.
