Vertical Teaming by the Numbers
1. Present VT info to core curriculum staff, AVID specialist, counselor rep, and admin. rep
2. Assemble curricular vertical teams (each grade represented)
3. Create a leadership structure: one VT leader per curricular area per school (hs and feeder ms’s); one VT coordinator and a coordinating committee
4. Create goals (long term) and objectives (short term) that reflect where you are (gather data) and where you want to be
5. Create an assessment and accountability system
6. Create standards-based, skills-based, Advanced Prep based Scope and Sequences
7. Members align their course outlines, units, and lessons to Scope and Sequence
8. Create a meeting schedule: single site and combined site
9. Share best practices and student work
10. Explore and commit resources to materials and equipment necessary for program building
11. Create and implement parent and student outreach programs
12. Create and implement bridging and tutorial assistance programs to recruit and retain students
13. Create and implement an on-going staff development program including AP* and Pre-AP* workshops and institutes
14. Keep meeting, keep working, keep improving: KAIZEN
