Directions are provided here, as well as in your registration and orientation materials. Campus and area maps are provided. You can also use mapquest.com for specific addresses.

 

TO USD From 5:

• exit Sea World/ Tecolote off-ramp (just north of 8)
• go east (Tecolote) to Morena Blvd. and turn right (south)
• turn left on Napa (short distance)
• turn left on Linda Vista Road to USD (on left)
• turn left at WEST (first) entrance. No permit is necessary on Sunday. Monday registrants, pick up one-day parking permit at kiosk (proceed if no attendant on duty.) You will receive a week-long permit at registration.
• continue straight ahead on Marian Way; Manchester Conference Center is on your right.

TO USD From 8:

• exit Morena Blvd. proceed north
• turn right on Linda Vista Road to USD on left
• follow above directions from this point

* Alcala Vista Apartments (dorms) are beyond the Main entrance off Linda Vista road—see campus map. Dorm residents should check in at Palomar Lounge before coming to registration.

Transportation Options at AP* by the Sea

San Diego has a good mass transit system of buses and trolleys. The web site for information is sdcommute.com . But for ease of travel during the week, we recommend cars--rental or personal.

Airport and Train Depot Transportation:

To/From Hotels: several hotels have free shuttle service--check their web site; hotels in Old Town and Hotel Circle (Mission Valley West) are close to the airport and depot--taxis should be under $20.

To/From USD: likewise close to airport and depot--taxis should be under $20. If you are staying in the Alcala Vista apartments, we recommend going directly to dorms to check in, then registering at Manchester Conference Center , which is .4 miles from the dorm.

From USD to Airport on Friday : We will have a shuttle sign-up list at MCC all week. We will call taxis for each three participants that will arrive 15 minutes after the conclusion of the Friday session. You may store your luggage in MCC on Friday morning.

 

OLD TOWN Hotels to USD: USD provides free shuttle between USD and the Old Town Trolley Station approximately every 30 minutes, Monday through Friday morning. NO SHUTTLE ON SUNDAY OR FRIDAY AT NOON. See detailed shuttle info on the Dorm and Hotel Information page.

 

On Campus: Parking near class buildings is often impacted for those arriving just before class, but ample parking is available and USD has a shuttle from the lower parking lots.

 

We provide a weekly parking pass at registration. DO NOT LOSE IT, as it costs $10 to replace. You must park in white spaces, and yellow NON-RESERVED faculty spaces, or you will be ticketed and possibly towed.

 

The quarter mile walk from classroom to cafeteria is slightly uphill. You can drive and park closer to the cafeteria--especially with a handicapped permit.

 

From dorm to classroom is approximately .4 miles. Shuttles from dorms run on a regular basis (Sunday excepted.) You can also drive and park near your classroom.

DIRECTIONS TO EVENING VENUES

Consult map on last page of orientation notebook. Evening events are starred.

 

We do not provide transportation to evening events. Most participants either car-pool or take taxis. We will have a white-board message center in Manchester Center for event ride-sharing and provide dorm-room info and ride-share coordination at Sunday reception.

 

To Mexican Dinner at Hacienda Hotel:
2467 Juan St: Pueblo Room is one level below Acapulco Restaurant, underground parking available

From USD: Linda Vista Rd. (R) to Morena Blvd. (L) to Taylor St. (R) to Juan St. (L)

From Hotel Circle: Hotel Circle South (W) becomes Taylor St. (straight ahead) to Juan St. (L)

 

To Globe Theatre in Balboa Park:

From USD: Linda Vista Rd. (R) to Morena Blvd. (L) to on-ramp to 5 South to SD Airport turn off (Sassafras/Laurel), continue on Kettner to Laurel (L) to Balboa Park. Globe is on the left past the bridge.

 

From Hotel Circle : Hotel Circle South becomes Taylor Street , across trolley/train tracks to Pacific Hwy (L) to Laurel (L) to Balboa Park . Globe is on the left past the bridge.

 

From Old Town : Taylor (L) across RR/Trolley tracks to Pacific Hwy (L) to Laurel St. (L) to Balboa Park . Globe is on the left past the bridge.

 

To La Jolla Playhouse:
2910 La Jolla Village Dr., La Jolla CA 92093:

Take 5 north to La Jolla Village Drive exit. Turn left and continue 5 stoplights to Revelle College Drive. Turn right onto the campus. Theatres are on the right, parking on the left.

 

To Harbor Excursion:
1050 Harbor Drive ; 619 234-4111; Harbor Excursions has a blue awning.

 

From USD: Linda Vista Rd. (R) to Morena Blvd. (L) to on-ramp to 5 South to SD Airport turn off (Sassafras/Laurel), continue on Kettner to Broadway (R); park north of Broadway on Harbor Drive.

 

From Hotel Circle : Hotel Circle South becomes Taylor Street , across RR/Trolley tracks to Pacific Hwy (L) to Broadway (R) to Harbor Dr. (R); park N of Broadway on right side of Harbor Drive . Bring quarters for meter.

 

From Old Town : Taylor Street (L), across RR/Trolley tracks to Pacific Hwy (L) to Broadway (R) to Harbor Dr. (R); park north of Broadway on right side of Harbor Drive . Bring quarters for meter.
