Course Description
Economics

Overview

The AP* Institute will focus on both Micro and Macro economics. Microeconomics will focus on the study of economic principles concerning individual decision makers within an economy. The main areas of concentration include basic economic concepts; the nature and functions of product markets; factor markets; and market failures. Macroeconomics will emphasize economic principles as applied to the economy as a whole. The session will focus on aggregate supply and demand and macro stabilization policies to fight the problems of inflation and unemployment. The impact of exchange rates on international trade and comparative advantage will conclude the content area. Teachers will have time to look at the rubrics for the scoring of the previous year’s essays and be able to participate in a classroom grading session of just released sample copies of the free response questions.
