Lance Balla
English Literature, New and Experienced
Lance Balla currently teaches in the Bellevue school district in Bellevue, Washington. He received his B.A in English and American literature from the University of California at San Diego, and his Masters in Teaching from Seattle University. Mr. Balla has been an *AP teacher for fifteen years, and a College Board Faculty Consultant for eight years. He has been a reader for the *AP Literature exam and a Table Leader for the past five years. Mr. Balla is a published writer who has written curriculum for a variety of institutions including public and private schools, and an online *AP English Literature and Composition course. He also co-authored Level VII of Springboard, a 12th grade curriculum available through the College Board. He also has worked with ETS in a number of projects including the Critical Reading Test Development Committee, the Standards Committee, and the Scale Anchoring Committee. He currently serves as the Chair of the Western Regional Council of the College Board. Awards and recognition include the KCTS Golden Apple Teacher's Award, the White House Distinguished Teacher Award, the Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education, the Washington State Award for Professional Excellence, and the Woodring College of Education Award for Outstanding Teaching.
