David Hong
Environmental Science


David Hong teaches AP* Environmental Science (APES) at Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, California. During 16 years at DBHS, he has taught APES, AP* Physics B, AP* Physics C, Physics, and Chemistry. In 1996, David wrote the curriculum for Diamond Bar High School's APES course. He taught the course to 40 students during the 1997-98 school year – the first year the College Board administered an APES exam. Currently, the APES program at DBHS includes approximately 180 students in six sections.


David is a member of the AP* Environmental Science Development Committee, and the College Board’s Science Academic Advisory Committee; he has served as an APES Reader for eight years and as a College Board Consultant for seven years. In addition to his work with the College Board, David has participated in the Toyota International Teacher Program, the Aquarium of the Pacific's Teacher Excursion to the Sea of Cortez, the Department of Energy's Teacher Research Associate (TRAC) Program, and NASA’s Educational Workshops.
